Poole Rally

Mark Woodhouse and Dan Shaw would like to invite the Solent OGA to Poole for another fun filled weekend of racing partying and soaking up the delights of Poole Harbour.

For those who are sailing to Poole on Friday afternoon/evening boats will meet in South Deep and around Goat Horn point situated in the western part of Poole harbour. Please do refer to up to date charts as you will need to negotiate some shallow water in order to reach Goat Horn point. On arrival anchor near other gaffers, yacht ‘Susan J’ should be on station to welcome everyone. Drinks onboard for those who fancy a night cap.

For those who decide to venture to Poole early on Saturday morning might find it easier to anchor in Studland Bay rather than sailing into Poole as we will be having a race in Poole bay at around 14:00. However boats who make their way to Goat Horn Point are welcome onboard Susan J for Coffee. After the race boats should make their way back to South Deep for the night. In the evening a BBQ has been arranged at the RMYC (Panorama Road, Sandbanks) situated in the old flying boat sheds. BBQ will be provided and plates, eating irons and selection of salads. A bar will be provided too!
Guests should be prepared to bring and cook their own meat or fish. Tenders will be provided to transport crews from their yachts in South Deep to the club, last return trip will be at midnight. At the time of going to print we aim that there will be minimal cost for the Saturday night as we want to encourage and welcome as many gaffers from the Solent as possible. We do require people to book tickets with the Area Secretary, cost to be confirmed.
