April 2007 Newsletter

We are looking forward to the new sailing season and I trust that you are all turning your thoughts towards organising your activities to enable you to join in a very full Solent Area sailing programme we have prepared for you this year.

The 2007 AGM and supper were attended by some 78 members and friends, the AGM itself being conducted in the usual time effective manner,
Geoff Skinner stood down as Area Secretary after seven years and will be a very hard act to follow. He was presented with two very nice gimbled oil lamps for Grace, which I know will be well used and look very appropriate in her cabin.

Ron Hanson also stood down from the Committee, having served for a number of years. We will miss his stirling work in organising the now well established Beaulieu Event, but Max will be taking this on for us.
Marion took over as Area Treasurer in October, at the start of our financial year, and Dan has taken on the job of looking after the trophies for us from Brian Crawley who has also resigned after being on the Committee for a number of years.

We are always on the look out for any volunteers to welcome on to the Committee so if you feel you would like to be a bit more involved with the organisation of our Area events then please contact us.
