During the evening Tom Cunliffe presented Ian MacGillivary with the Cape Horn Trophy, awarded to him at the Association AGM in January, which he was unable to attend, for outstanding seamanship when he sailed Blue Gansey back from our last year’s annual race in a near gale, with an inexperienced crew and no engine.
We also had an excellent speaker this year, Dennis Skillicorn who kept us all amused with his anecdotes of the Solent and his travels around the world.
The photographic competition was also judged by,Dennis Skillicorn and attracted some interesting entries with Mike Brackstone taking the prize.
We had a raffle prize draw and were very pleased that Crewsaver had donated two lifejackets and we also had two tins of Seajet anti-fouling paint as prizes.
Enclosed are the YOGAFF entry papers. You must complete these if you wish to attend, even if you have already returned the slip enclosed with the last newsletter. There is also the opportunity to help out for an hour or two on the OGA stand at YOGAFF this year and please contact Ron Hanson if you are interested.
Also included with this newsletter is information and forms relating to The Poole and Marchwood Rallies and if you are planning to attend please can you fill these in and return to me.
